The metropolis of Tokyo is bustling at night, and the lights never go out. Of course, just having a drink or walking around in a bustling place is extremely enjoyable.

What I will introduce here are spots where you can enjoy the beautiful night view of Tokyo quietly, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Gazing at the beautiful scenery, you will lose track of time. It is also a great time to look back on the day and say, “Oh, that was fun!

1. Tokyo Station 🚉

Tokyo station

The exterior of Tokyo Station differs depending on the entrance. The Yaesu Exit is a modern-style structure, while the Marunouchi Exit is a red brick station building with a completely different atmosphere.

The station is a fusion of the West and the East, with references to Western station buildings, but also incorporating uniquely Japanese elements.

Because of its beautiful structure, you may encounter couples taking wedding photos when you walk around here.

At night, the red brick station building gives the illusion of being in a place other than Japan. Some people go out of their way to stop by just to see the station building at night.

2. Sky Tree 🗼

📍 From Azuma Bridge 🌉

Recognized as the world’s tallest freestanding radio tower, it is 634 meters high. Because it is so high, the Sky Tree can be viewed from various places.

Another attraction is the different colors of the lights that are turned on at different times of the day, which makes for a different view at many times of day. When i checked the schedule for colouring for today it was 11 different styles planned, only for 1 day!

And for special events such as middle of november until Christmas (Candle Colouring) and around New Years (Champagne Gold Colouring) you can see limited time only colour schemes appear on the Sky Tree. I think these type of seasonal events in Tokyo are a big part to what makes planning a trip to Tokyo extra special.

The admission fee to the observation deck at the top of the Sky Tree building, which is 450 meters high, is 3,100 yen. On a clear day you can even see Mt.Fuji from here!

3. Tokyo Tower 🗼

Tokyo tower

Tokyo Tower, a landmark of Tokyo, stands at 333 meters, only half the height of the Skytree, but has a tremendous presence.

Unlike the Skytree, Tokyo Tower is always orange, and its glow at night is enchanting.

Personally, I prefer the Tokyo Tower to the Skytree for its night view.

For an admission fee of 1,200 yen, you can also take the elevator up to the 250-meter-high observation deck for a panoramic view of the city center.

Using the elevator is nice, but you can also use the 600 steps outside, and it is quite a nice experience to climb up while feeling a pleasant breeze.

4. Odaiba 🌉

📍 Rainbow Bridge Observation Deck 👀

Rainbow Bridge, the bridge connecting Odaiba and central Tokyo, is illuminated at night, glowing with the high-rise condominiums that line the opposite shore across the harbor and also reflecting off the water, making for a very beautiful sight.

Odaiba has an abundance of shopping malls and amusement facilities, so be sure to enjoy the night view before returning home from Odaiba.

5. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building 🏙️

The 202-meter-high observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is free to climb and offers a panoramic view of the Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower.

There is also a café where you can enjoy a drink or a light meal while taking in the view.

Conclusion

Spending an evening in Tokyo at a tavern or bar is great, but if you are staying for a few days, i recommend a night view evening to relax and enjoy the spectacular views of our capital.

Here are my tips for best places to visit in Tokyo if you want tips on more authentic experiences to enjoy night or day.
